Words, Words, Words!

Having a literacy-rich classroom is so important!  Giving students the tools and resources to engage in all types of words strengthens their reading, writing and knowledge of new words.

My students use our word wall ALL the time.  Each week we add five new words to our growing wall.  We look for the words in texts, discuss them as we write, look for similarities and differences between the words, talk about the shapes of the words, and practice the words during centers.  The list goes on and on!

Here is a picture of my word wall (along with my Second Grade Sight Words).  I also have Kindergarten words available on TpT.  Let me know if you are interested in another set of words and I will see if I can create it for you!  Just leave me a comment below or send me an email at:  hi@classroomcanvas.com

I also have word walls set up for social studies (see below!), science and math.  I am teaching a new grade level and new curriculum this year, so creating all these new resources is coming along (albeit slowly!).

How do you use your word wall in your classroom??  I’d love to know!
